Omaha's German American Society throws open its hall each September for German Day, a heritage celebration that has now run for 142 editions and is billed as the longest-running German festival in Nebraska. The weekend pairs sausages, pretzels and German beer with live music, folk dancing and other cultural performances. It opens with a Friday evening session and continues through a full Saturday program at the society's own grounds on South 120th Street.
