Old Town Alexandria's Oktoberfest fills John Carlyle Square Park for a single Saturday of German food, beer and live entertainment. A beer garden anchors the park while German music and dance performances run through the afternoon, and an artisan market of handmade goods lines the edges. Stein-holding and a Mr. and Mrs. Oktoberfest costume contest supply the competition, and admission is free with dogs welcome, rain or shine.
