A Rotary-run German festival that takes over Second and Market Streets in historic downtown Maysville, an Ohio River town in northeastern Kentucky. Two days bring traditional music and folk dancing, German beers, wines and schnapps, authentic German cooking, a costume contest that crowns a royal court, a parade and wiener dog races. Unusually for an Oktoberfest, it lands in mid-August rather than the autumn.
