The Basilica of Saint Mary, the oldest Catholic parish in Virginia, holds its Oktoberfest on a Sunday each October on its Old Town Alexandria grounds. The parish builds the day around food, games and fellowship and funds it through sponsorships solicited from parishioners and local businesses. It is a parish gathering rather than a public street festival.
