St. Marys sits in a corner of the Pennsylvania Wilds settled by German Catholics, and its Bavarian Fall Fest keeps that heritage in view over three days each September at Shawmut Park. The layout is a walking route through the park, with booths, craft and food vendors, a basket raffle and live bands. The beer booth pours from Straub Brewery, the hometown brewer whose German-American lagers have been made in St. Marys since 1872. Children get a bounce house with a slide and an obstacle course.
