DANK Haus Oktoberfest

Chicago's German American cultural centre in Lincoln Square throws its Oktoberfest in the fifth-floor Marunde Ballroom rather than on the street. An evening of bratwurst and Kaesespaetzle runs alongside imported German beer, a ceremonial keg tapping and live music. Stein-holding and yodelling competitions fill the middle of the night, and reserved table packages with dinner service can be booked in advance. A small donation is suggested at the door.
