The German cultural society of New Orleans throws the largest Oktoberfest in Louisiana, spread across six days on three consecutive weekends beside Bayou St. John. The grounds pour more than twenty German beers alongside wine and schnapps, with a bratwurst-and-pretzel kitchen and continuous Oompah music and dancing. A Masskrugstemmen stein-holding contest runs every festival day, and a 5K race is folded into the opening Saturday.
