Edelweiss Passaic, a German cultural and folk-dance society founded in 1957, hosts an indoor Oktoberfest dinner-dance at the Elks lodge in Pompton Lakes. The evening opens with a Bavarian buffet, then hands the floor to a live German band for several hours of dancing. The club's own Schuhplattler and Volkstanz groups perform along with visiting dance groups, making the folk dancing the centerpiece rather than a beer tent.
