A two-evening Bavarian festival put on by Fountain Hills Sister Cities, the volunteer group that maintains the town's partnership with Kassel, Germany, with proceeds funding its educational and cultural exchange programs. It spreads across Centennial Circle outdoors and the adjacent Fountain Hills Community Center, opening Friday with a ceremonial keg tapping by the mayor. German bands play both nights and the contest slate runs from stein holding to alphorn blowing to best-dressed. A free kids' zone with crafts, face painting and a balloon artist runs alongside.
