Iowa Oktoberfest is a free two-day German heritage celebration in downtown Waterloo, staged at Anton's Garden on Sycamore Street. The programming leans into competition: a stein hoist endurance contest, keg rolling, boot drinking, kubb and a nail-hammering game called Beers and Hammers. Saturday morning adds a Harvest Market of pumpkins and mums and a Barktoberfest dog costume contest and parade, with live music, beer and food vendors running throughout.
