Kilgore Main Street closes historic downtown for a free one-day Oktoberfest that deliberately mixes Bavarian tradition with East Texas, running from late morning to early evening. There is German food, music and a best-dressed contest for those who turn up in tracht, plus family activities through the day. REEL East Texas operates a beer garden by the Texan Theater, with a paid VIP option for those who want it.
