New Franklin runs a free afternoon Oktoberfest at its Tudor House civic center on the shore of the Portage Lakes, south of Akron. The city bills it as one of its most popular events of the year, pairing polka dancing and local German food with autumn views over the water. Admission and the activities cost nothing; food and drink are sold on site.
