Mitchell Oktoberfest

Mitchell's downtown association closes South Main Street for a daytime Oktoberfest built almost entirely around competition. Wiener dog races, stein holding, keg races, a pumpkin throw, strong-man contests, musical chairs and a best-dressed contest fill the five hours, with a pedal pull for children aged four to twelve. German-themed food, drink and music run alongside. Now in its sixth year, it wraps up by late afternoon.
