Newberry Oktoberfest

The City of Newberry closes its historic downtown for a free Oktoberfest that starts with a Friday-evening Festbier kickoff and fills all of Saturday. Biergartens, German food stalls and an artisan marketplace line the streets while a music stage sponsored by Newberry College plays nearly without a break from mid-morning to the late afternoon. Competitions include an official USSA steinholding contest and a best traditional German dress contest. A sponsored Kinderfest zone with rides and activities is free for children, as is the entertainment.
