Ohio Swiss Festival

Downtown Sugarcreek — the self-styled Little Switzerland of Ohio, settled by Swiss-German immigrants — closes its streets for three days of Alpine heritage each autumn. Cheese and wine samplings run alongside a midway of concessions and rides, with music and entertainment scheduled every day. The programme keeps the old contests alive, including Steinstossen stone-throwing and the Swiss Miss competition, and builds to a Grand Parade.
