Sandy Springs stages OktoberFEAST on the City Green lawn at its City Springs civic centre north of Atlanta. The Swinging Bavarians play polka across two late-afternoon sessions, and the food runs to pretzels, sausages, schnitzel, spaetzle and potato pancakes. Admission is free, beer requires a 21-plus wristband, and there are polka lessons and an ice cream parade for children.
