A one-day Oktoberfest thrown by Anchorage's 49th State Brewing at its rail-yard venue, The Rail. The brewery pours German-style beers by the stein alongside a German food menu, with live oompah music from the Alaska Blaskapelle and a run of contests through the afternoon and evening. Brat tossing, stein holding, yodeling and a costume contest fill out the schedule, and the beer garden welcomes leashed dogs. The first 1,100 guests through the gate get a commemorative one-liter stein.
