The Kemah Boardwalk on Galveston Bay gives over a waterfront weekend to Oktoberfest each October. Admission is free and you pay as you go, buying beer and food tickets and an optional souvenir stein rather than a gate ticket. Live bands play both days, with stein-holding contests in the mid-afternoon and cornhole and other games running alongside the boardwalk's usual attractions.
