Oktoberfest Des Moines

Oktoberfest Des Moines is a two-day Bavarian-themed celebration held at The District at Prairie Trail in Ankeny, on the north edge of the Des Moines metro. More than fifty beers are poured alongside German food, and the schedule mixes traditional ceremony with novelty: a tapping of the golden keg, live polka and German drinking songs, then a Rocktoberfest turn toward rock music in the evening. Competitions include stein holding, a Bier Maiden contest and a shotski world record attempt, with German lawn games, an arcade and local vendor shopping around the edges.
