Oktoberfest (Jackson)

Jackson's Belhaven Town Center gives over a long weekend to what the city bills as its largest annual celebration, centred on Fertile Ground Beer Co. on Manship Street. Friday opens with a ceremonial keg tapping and the brewery pours Marzen and Festbier specials across the three days, with food from the surrounding restaurants and from food trucks parked on the block. A bratwurst-eating contest and a stein-hoisting competition run over the weekend, and commemorative branded steins are sold throughout. Admission costs nothing.
