The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership builds an eleven-day Bavarian village through downtown Pittsburgh each October, anchored on Market Square and running out along Fort Duquesne Boulevard to the Roberto Clemente Bridge. A Ferris wheel and karneval rides take over the closed bridge deck, while Market Square holds the biergarten, live entertainment and the free competitions. Stein-holding feats of strength and dachshund races draw the crowds; axe throwing and the Devil's Wheel are ticketed separately. Downtown restaurants run Oktoberfest food and drink specials for the length of the festival.
