For six weeks each autumn the Royal Gorge Route Railroad turns its two-hour run through the gorge into a rolling Oktoberfest, pouring festival beers and serving a bratwurst plate as the train follows the Arkansas River. Passengers choose between coach, a glass-domed Vista Dome car and an open observation deck. Departures run several times a day from the Santa Fe Depot in Cañon City.
