Old Boise Oktoberfest

The merchants of Boise's oldest commercial district close the street at 6th and Grove for a one-day Oktoberfest run by the neighborhood itself rather than a promoter. A DJ headlines the evening, the first 150 through the gate get a stein, and a club of vintage Volkswagen owners parks its buses along the block for the first four hours. Tickets are cheap and children are admitted at half price, so it draws downtown regulars and families in roughly equal measure.
