Richmond Oktoberfest

Richmond's German clubs have put on this indoor Oktoberfest for over half a century, filling the Old Dominion Building at the Richmond Raceway Complex for two nights in mid-October. A German band and a Bavarian dance troupe hold the floor, an Oktoberfest parade winds through the hall each evening, and there is a stein-hoisting contest for anyone who wants to test a forearm. A Kinder Korner gives children their own corner of the hall, and admission is ten dollars with under-16s free.
