Sauerkraut Oktoberfest

Downtown Fremont builds its Oktoberfest around the cabbage rather than the bratwurst, staging a full day of kraut-themed competitions at the community amphitheater alongside the Saturday farmers market on Front Street. Contestants throw cabbages, bowl with them, play oversized tic-tac-toe with them, and hoist kraut in a sponsored strength contest. A Sauerkraut King and Queen pageant crowns the day. A beer garden and entertainment run alongside.
