Sidney has run an Oktoberfest on the first full weekend of October for more than fifty years, drawing roughly seven thousand people to a town in the Nebraska panhandle. The weekend spreads across the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds and downtown: a Saturday morning parade, a beer garden and free entertainment tent running to midnight, a 5K, a golf tournament, a car show, a farmers and craft market, and more than twenty food booths. Sunday closes with a church service and the annual wiener dog races.
