St. Isidore Oktoberfest

St. Isidore's parish hall in Macomb turns into a one-evening Bavarian hall each September, with a polka band, German cooking and a full bar. The competitive streak runs deep: men's and women's stein holding, a no-hands donut eating contest, plus fowling and cornhole for anyone who would rather not hold a litre of beer at arm's length. Entry is a few dollars and proceeds go to supporting seminarians. It is a genuinely small, parish-run affair rather than a commercial festival.
