Wauktoberfest

Wauktoberfest is Waunakee's German celebration, now in its twenty-second year, staged on the Endres Manufacturing grounds on the south side of the village. The three days mix polka bands and dancing with German food, eating contests for limburger cheese and sauerkraut, a brat toss, a bake-off and a dachshund dash. The ticketed Wurst Beer Taste is the weekend's centerpiece for beer drinkers, and Sunday morning opens with the Sausage Shuffle run. Proceeds go to a slate of Waunakee community groups, and bounce houses and face painting keep younger attendees busy.
