Anhalt Halle Oktoberfest

A one-afternoon Oktoberfest in the Texas Hill Country settlement of Anhalt, held in the 1870s dance hall that the Germania Farmer Verein has kept going since 1875. The club has marked the third Sunday of May and the third Sunday of October with a festival for more than 150 years, making this one of the oldest continuously held German gatherings in Texas. Admission costs nothing; the draw is German cooking and an afternoon of oompah music under the old hall's roof.
