San Antonio's German singing society throws its Oktoberfest in the halle and garden it has occupied since the 1800s, and the evening runs on music: the society's own concert band, dance band and German band trade sets while the Männerchor and Damenchor lead sing-alongs. A keg tapping opens the night, stein hoisting follows at the Kuest House, and Spaten Oktoberfest and Münchener Weizen are poured alongside bratwurst. It is the oldest German-society Oktoberfest in the city and keeps a distinctly club-hall feel rather than a street-fair one.
